I talk a lot about chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and arthritis. But there’s another type of struggle that isn’t always listed on a chart the same way — a chronic disorder that lives in the shadows: bulimia and binge eating disorder.
This was my battle. And even though it’s not the kind of “chronic condition” you measure with blood sugar or blood pressure, it’s chronic all the same. It lives in your mind, your spirit, and your body every single day.
Living in the Cycle
I know what it feels like to live trapped in that cycle — the planning, the secrecy, the shame. The momentary relief followed by guilt so heavy it crushes you. It’s not just about food. It’s about control, about pain, about filling an emptiness that food can never actually fix.
And here’s the part most people don’t talk about: the toll it takes isn’t only emotional. Disorders like bulimia and binge eating affect your hormones, your digestion, your immune system, your heart. The body keeps the score.
Why Spirit Matters in Healing
Science alone couldn’t pull me out. I knew what to eat. I understood calories, nutrients, even exercise. But the war wasn’t in my plate — it was in my spirit.
The turning point came when I realized that healing wasn’t about controlling food harder. It was about restoring my spirit. Believing I was worthy of health. Learning to forgive myself. Finding other ways to cope with stress, grief, and life’s weight.
This is why Spirit is a pillar of the 3S Method. Because without spirit, science and support don’t hold. You can have the perfect plan, but if your spirit is broken, you’ll keep going back to the same cycle.
From Disorder to Direction
Today, I don’t just talk about spirit as an idea. I talk about it because I lived it. I know what it’s like to cry in secret, to swear it’s the last time, and to feel like food has the final say. And I also know what it’s like to finally breathe again.
That’s why at HealGenix, spirit isn’t optional. We build it in. Because I know firsthand that for many, healing isn’t about finding the “perfect diet.” It’s about reclaiming your power, rebuilding your spirit, and finally stepping into a life that feels free.
